SO FUN! @VisionGallery in Chandler / by Lex Gjurasic

If there is one exhibition NOT to be missed this summer it's this one!

SO FUN! An Exploration in Maximalism at Vision Gallery is a group show that’s going to be BONKERS. Curated by Hanley Ange and incorporating an amazing gaggle of artists that don’t understand the word understated, SO FUN! will be on display August 23- November 2, 2025 with an opening reception August 22, 6-8pm.

Vision Gallery, 10 E Chicago St., Chandler, AZ 85225

And there will be STICKERS of the art. See images below!

BE THERE ARE BE BORING!

“Born out of a rebellion against the Minimalist art movement, contemporary Maximalism counters the prejudice of high culture. From Yayoi Kusama’s polka dots to Kehinde Wiley’s portraits, this complex mode of creation has been used by artists and creatives over the decades to express themselves and transform the historical understanding of maximalist craft. The artists in this exhibition create transformative environments, explore femininity and queerness, celebrate the impact of internet culture, breathe new life into second-hand objects, and recontextualize the legacy of maximalism. Behind the tacky smiley faces, flashy flowers, and bright colors, in this exhibition there are deeply personal, social, and cultural topics being explored that challenge the perception of this playful aesthetic. Through the use of color, pattern, and repetition, “So Fun!” creates an environment rich in storytelling, self-expression, and empowerment that embodies the joyful spirit of the aesthetic of excess.”

Participating artists: Lex Gjurasic, Sarah Hurwitz, Sofie Ramos, Emily Spetrino, and Chloe Torri

BIG THANK YOU to Scottsdale Arts and the Scottsdale Public Library for their excellence in hosting my exhibition Lex Gjurasic’s Flower Worlds this summer. I’m proud to announce that Scottsdale Arts purchased my painting Heavenly Choir 1 for their permanent collection! Also I’ve been informed that the Augmented Reality animation that I worked on with Hoverlay specifically for Flower Worlds was one of the most interacted with AR that Scottsdale Arts has ever hosted with over 100 interactions while the exhibition was on display. GO HERE to see photos of Flower Worlds on display and screenshots of the AR.

Finally and not to be forgotten, I’m hosting another evening of comedy at the Tucson Museum of Art! Our next night of laughter at the expense of cheapening the art is Saturday, September, 13 at 7pm. This will be our THIRD comedy showcase at TMA -so I guess people like it? It always sells out in advance so be sure to get your tickets HERE.
